PFT's Super Bowl LX picks: Florio vs. Simms - NBC Sports (2026)

The Super Bowl is almost here, but the real drama might be in the predictions! It's been a whirlwind of activity, from the energetic atmosphere of Radio Row to the intense preparation for the big NBC pregame show. Amidst all this, it's easy to forget the main event: the game itself! And as the season wraps up, it's time for our final showdown of predictions.

While this game won't affect the overall season standings – my colleague Simms has the edge in straight-up wins, and I've clinched the spread competition – we still see things differently when it comes to who will actually win. However, we do agree on which team will cover the spread.

But here's where it gets interesting... For the Patriots to have a shot at victory, they need to make this a gritty, low-scoring affair. If they can keep the game tight, the key player becomes Patriots coach Mike Vrabel. He's a master of the rulebook, not just knowing it inside and out, but also understanding how to strategically leverage it to his team's advantage. His innate connection to the player's perspective allows him to make those crucial, split-second decisions that lead to the right outcomes.

We saw a glimpse of this genius in a previous game against the Broncos. During a critical fourth-down situation in the second quarter, Vrabel presented a pre-snap defensive look that tricked the Broncos into believing their planned play would succeed. Then, in a surprising twist, the Patriots deployed a defense that completely shut down the play. Even before a game-sealing interception, Vrabel orchestrated a subtle tactic: his defensive players deliberately took their time exiting the field during a late Denver substitution. This seemingly small action ate away at the play clock, amplifying the pressure on an inexperienced quarterback who, in turn, rushed the snap and the throw.

And this is the part most people miss... All of Vrabel's strategic brilliance might be for naught if the Seahawks manage to build a significant lead early on. Seattle certainly possesses the talent to do just that. The Patriots must keep the score close for Vrabel to be the decisive factor. Given that Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold has a history of games where things have gone spectacularly wrong, Vrabel and his coaching staff have undoubtedly dissected every one of those moments. Their goal? To replicate that same intense pressure and uncertainty, perhaps even bringing back memories of that infamous game where Darnold famously confessed to "seeing ghosts." Coincidentally, that very game was against the Patriots.

So, the moment of truth has arrived. Here are our final predictions for the winner and the score:

Florio's Pick: Patriots 23, Seahawks 20.

Simms's Pick: Seahawks 21, Patriots 17.
